Almond.
Of course they’re not supposed to look like that. They should resemble a macaroon, with a cracked top.
This is a very easy (dump everything in) recipe, nothing can go wrong. So… here is what went wrong. I didn’t use super fine crushed walnuts and almonds. I got tired of crushing them and they were slightly too big for what this recipe requires.
Ingredients:
130g fine walnuts
50 fine almonds
170g sugar
2 egg whites
teaspoon of vanilla extract
2 teaspoons almond extract
A dash of salt
Coffee
You do not need a mixer for this. But you should put more time into crushing those nuts - you can even replace the crushed almonds with almond flour.
2. Whisk the egg whites, not too hard - they should be glossy and without too many bubbles.
3. Add the extracts and mix.
4. Mix the sugar with walnuts and almonds.
If you need to buy the main ingredients (the rest you should have):
5. Add the walnut mix over the egg whites and mix with a silicone spoon until everything is homogenous.
3. Add the extracts and mix.
4. Mix the sugar with walnuts and almonds.
5. I used a spoon to make small cooking on a baking sheet.
6. You bake them at 350F for 15 minutes.
7. After you remove them from the oven, wait until they are completely cooled before removing from pan - and for storing you should keep them in a closed container, otherwise they become very hard very fast.
