Soccer matches.

Are you getting ready for a World Cup match? Or is Liverpool playing tomorrow? Munch on this.

The recipe is not complicated - cutting it is. But if you have soccer friends, its worth it.

Ingredients:
200g Butter
One cup of sugar
6 egg yolks for the cake (and we use the 5 egg whites for meringue)
300g Flour
One spoon baking powder
50g cocoa
One cup of milk
Forest preserve jam

ingredients for a soccer cake
  1. Mix 2 sticks of butter (soften as much as possible) with one or 2 egg yolks and a cup (an actual cup) of sugar until creamy.

  2. Add the other 4 egg yolks one by one, mixing well after each addition.

3. Pour the mixture into a greased and floured baking tray. Bake in a preheated oven at 350°F for 25 minutes (use a toothpick to check doneness).
4. I printed a hexagons pattern and stuck several toothpicks so I can mark the cutting lines - you don’t have, it’s easy to just do it by hand.
5. While the cake is baking, prepare the meringue. Beat the 6 egg whites with a pinch of salt until foamy, then gradually add 150g of sugar and the juice of one lemon. Beat well with a mixer until the meringue is very stiff. For flavoring, add a little rum essence.
6. When the cake is baked, remove it from the oven and spread a very thin layer of forest preserve over it.
7. Add the meringue on top and spread it evenly.
8. Return the cake to the oven for another 7–8 minutes.
9. Let it cool for 10 minutes, then cut it using a knife dipped in cold water. After each row, rinse the knife to ensure clean cuts through the meringue.
